Ron de Jong
Head of Software Development

Ron oversees software development activities within IES.

He has extensive experience in software development, project management, business analysis and systems analysis, communications, software programming, numerical analysis and mathematical modelling and high level expertise in C#, COM+, C++, SQL Server, leading the team of C#, and numerical-analysis software developers.

He has led many developments at IES including:

  • Architecture of IES’s leading edge data visualisation software NEO.
  • Development of Mercury, an advanced application framework, which has an object model that includes a user interface and persistence and allows forward/backward compatibility.  Other major benefits of Mercury are in-built object move, copy, insert, delete, clipboard copy/paste, and XML import/export. The Mercury framework is now used extensively in IES’s commercial software;
  • Development of an object oriented LP programming language (LORE) written in C# and using LCG;
  • Development of coding standards including establishing a system of self and peer reviews to implement the standards.

Ron joined IES in 1999 and is based in IES’s head office in Sydney within the Software Division’s Development Group. Prior to joining IES, Ron worked for Optus Communications where he was the Internet Program Manager involved in the delivery of a usage based internet billing system with web based customer reporting. Prior to that, Ron worked for Optus Vision, where he was a Project Manager working on Geographic Information Systems.  

Ron also worked for BHP Information Technology and BHP Aerospace & Electronics Ltd where he was involved in various major communications projects, such as the DFAT ADCNET project and the DoD’s JORN project.

Kim Hoffman
Project Leader – Software Developer

Kim is the Project Leader for PROPHET, IES’s leading edge electricity market simulation model.

He has more than ten years experience in the development of both linear and non-linear optimisation methodologies and their application to commercial problems.

Kim has particular interest and expertise in:

  • Numerical simulation; and
  • The development of operations research software products at IES.

Kim joined IES in 1996 and is based in IES’s head office in Sydney within the Software Division’s Development Group.

Andy Tan
Manager IES IT Systems

Andy is responsible for IES computer systems, database services and network connections as well as providing technical support to our customers.  He has more than 10 years experience in managing various databases, Windows server & Exchange server and implementing IT security in all systems. He has particular interest and expertise in Oracle and MS SQL databases.

He joined IES in 2000 and is based in IES’s head office in Sydney within the IT Support Group in the Corporate Affairs Division.

Denny Kamaludin
Analyst/Programmer

Denny is a software developer with particular expertise in Java, C++, C# and database skills in SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL. His other area of expertise includes web designing and programming with XHTML, Javascript, DotNetNuke, and CSS.

Denny joined IES in 2005 and is based in IES’s head office in Sydney within both the Software Division’s Development Group and the IT Support Group.

Svetlana Lazareva
Analyst/Programmer

Svetlana is a software developer with two years experience in teaching and almost three years experience in software development and particular expertise in VB6, C#, MS SQL and Lisp. 

She joined IES in 2009 and is based in IES's head office in Sydney within the Software Division's Development Group. Prior to joining IES Svetlana worked for 2 and a half years on the software for civil engineers in Spectra QEST. Prior to that, Svetlana worked as a teacher at Flinders University, Adelaide.

Hongbin "Ben" Hu
Analyst/Programmer

Ben is a software developer with particular interest and expertise in C++ and C# programming.

He joined IES in 2009 and is based in IES's head office in Sydney, within the Software Division's Development Group.

Prior to joining IES, Ben worked for Helicopter Transport and Training Pty Ltd and was responsible for the company's IT infrastructure, training and chartering software systems and customer service.
